Mehdi inherited a love of photography and cooking from his two grandfathers. Maybe his love for alternative photography has to do with the smell of things. On a trip with his mentor Claude Simon to West Africa, he was introduced to itinerant photography and built his Box Camera soon after. For eight years he has been photographing in France, Italy, Algeria and Morocco at festivals and events. He calls his style of photography a performance. “My work is sensitive and intuitive. It tries to capture and reveal what these people are, their stories, their emotions, their integrity. It is a photographic testimony, a revelation of memory, emotion and reflection.” Mehdi works with direct positive paper creating unique photographic works.
