Maikel graduated from a technical university in Havana, Cuba. He did a variety of jobs as a craftsman and upon his arrival in Argentina ventured into photography. With the help of Celeste Miguel and a carpenter he built his Minutero camera. That was in 2014; since then, he has worked primarily in Puerto Iguazú, Misiones, in Argentina but also in Brazil, Uruguay and Cuba.
