Iris introduces her self: I’m Iris Chauveau, I created La photographe ambulante in 2017, a photographic animation in the event industry, whose goal is to democratize analog photography by promoting social ties.
Thanks to my Afghan box camera, a hand-crafted camera containing my silver laboratory, I can take instant portraits, live in front of the participants.
The idea was born out of a need to work differently, to give value back to photography and to respond to the problems I encounter as a woman photographer living and working in rural areas.
The Afghan box camera is a concrete tool that invites us to slow down, and allows for an authentic relationship with the public, who are encouraged to participate, ask questions, and interact with each other.
Sharing this work through exhibitions and publications will be the final stage of this mobile photography project.
