Aurélien had the rare pleasure of seeing Box Cameras in use in Afghanistan in 2005. “I fell in love with the camera itself at first. It’s almost a prop for magicians. They are all unique, simple, with so much personality. Mirrors, plastic flowers, vivid colours, combs to prepare your hair, Pakistani pop star…” A photographer in Kabul showed him how to use the camera and he was lucky to purchase the last purpose-built one in 2010. Aurélien travelled from Afghanistan to France in a VW bus with his wife Molly, taking Box Camera pictures along the way, and hasn’t stopped since.
