Marie used to photograph in the tourism sector but was looking for a way of photographing while living a nomadic life as a young mother. She came across the Afghan Box Camera Project and photographers like Sébastien Bergeron and Thibaut Piel. She built her own “magic box” in the winter of 2017. “Since then we have been doing various markets, festivals and events to capture the smiles of curious passers-by. The camera is also a wonderful pedagogical tool. I am currently developing discovery workshops for young and old alike to discover this unusual camera, as well as to question our relationship to the image in the current world.”
