Thibaut Piel, who goes by the name “Bruzklyn Labz”, began his Box Camera adventures in his home in Brittany in 2017. Sebastien Bergeron built a camera for him for a special road trip to Brazil, and Thibaut has since travelled with it to the USA, Canada and Portugal. “For me, the main strength of this kind of photography is that you can move and install your darkroom everywhere, have it seen by anyone randomly wandering in the streets, and teach the basics of photography with this very educational tool.” He likes to call his style Photographie Vagabonde. “The camera is very heavy gear; that’s why I decided to transform vehicles into big cameras and rolling darkrooms”. Last year, Thibaut created the VESPACAMERA and is now working on a VELOSOLEXcamera.
